a little about our story

At Kinfolk, we combine Dillon’s 15 years of custom homebuilding with Ashley’s eye for design and understanding of the “bigger picture” to help serve our clients. As homeowners ourselves, we deeply understand how sacred a home is and we know that a well-designed space has the ability to make your life better. We have a vision for the memories that can be made in your space, and we want to help you get there.

Through Kinfolk, we help others bring their ideas to life, whether that’s remodeling where you currently are, or creating a custom piece of furniture to tie your whole space together or even just capturing the memories that are unfolding. It all matters and we’re honored to be a part of the process.

Now that we’re friends, we’re just going to be upfront and honest with you. At the very beginning, we never really meant to start a business. Honestly, it was never really on our radar. Over time (and with a lot of practice) we fell in love with the story we were writing together as a family, and we wanted to tell it in the best way possible. So, I started taking photos of our life and Dillon started to make our home reflect our personal style and our own values. It felt like sacred and important work, to honor what we were doing within our four walls, because it was and is the legacy we’re writing as a family. Over time we realized that living a life of intentionality and of purpose didn’t only matter to us…it mattered to others as well.

and then we started Kinfolk.

“Kinfolk” describes how we approach our work. Throughout our process, we want you to feel like family, knowing and believing that you are receiving our very best. We want to help you create your space and preserve your story in a way that feels honest and genuine, as if we’re long-time friends who are excited to celebrate ordinary life with you. We want our clients to feel known as we capture and create in some of your most sacred spaces. Our hope is that through working together, you will come to love your story, and the legacy you are crafting within your home. Your story matters and we’re honored to help you tell it.

I'm Ashley, the Photog and the self-proclaimed Communications Guru behind Kinfolk Co. (Read: INTJ, Enneagram 3, and Strengthfinders Future/ Strategic/Learner through and through.) When it comes to growth, strategy, and getting things done, I’m your girl. I spend most of my free time reading, writing, and learning, but I love a good unscheduled weekend at home with my people.

This is Dillon, the kindest Canadian carpenter you’ll ever meet. We met in Ontario, Canada in 2010 while participating in the same leadership program. We were friends for two years, started dating in 2012 and got married a few years later in my parent’s backyard. Dillon is a wise and thoughtful Enneagram 9 (he keeps me grounded), loves sports podcasts, beef brisket, and can build just about anything.

And this is Nora Jean, our beautiful girl. Truth be told, we had no idea how much we would love being her parents. She loves popsicles, bubble baths, and playing Baby Shark on repeat. She’s got her father’s crooked grin and her mama’s golden locks and is the absolute best addition to our team.
